Events for Everyone
What is a BEST event for students? Throughout the year BEST organises different activities where students from member universities get the opportunity to increase their international experience, establish contacts, improve their English and have fun. Each BEST event is attended by 20-30 engineering students like you, who have something in common: they want to live a unique experience, different from day-to-day school life!
BEST organises different types of activities:
BEST Courses
BEST Courses are the most preferred activity of BEST. The courses are organised in four seasons and named as Spring Course(SpC), Summer Course(SC), Autumn Course(AC) ve Winter Course(WC).
In BEST courses students can:
In these events, participants attend lectures given by the university's teaching staff or by experts from companies. At the end of the course students take an exam, which is designed to evaluate the participants' success.
Except the time with courses and technical trips, social programs, parties, city rallies etc. are organised.
Summer courses are generally from 10 to 15 days, other courses are generally from 7 to 10 days.
For application you just have to be a student of a member university.
BEST Events on Education
BEST Events on Education are seminars that last for about 6 days. They gather engineering students and professors from Europe with the purpose of evaluating and finding new paths for higher engineering education in Europe.
BEST Engineering Competition
Seasonal BEST Engineering Competitions are events where teams of students use their technical, social and communicative skills to compete in different categories: Team Design, Case Studies, Negotiation and Debates.
BEST Leisure Events
BEST also organises non-academic activities such as sailing weeks, ski-weeks, extreme sports. These events have a higher fee and have no academic part. Only fun, fun and fun!
Events for Only BEST Members
The events below can just be attended by BEST members. These events generally increases the motivation, international experience, knowledge of BEST members. Meanwhile, members also brings the opportunity of meeting new BEST members from the other local groups and having fun.
Motivation Weekend = MW
Motivation Weekend is the event for Local BEST Gropus(LBG) to increase the motivation of members and to talk about BEST topics all the weekend and of course have fun at the same time. This activity can be organised by one or many LBGs.
Cultural Exchange = CE
Cultural Exchange program is an event which is organised by two or three LBGs. The aim of this event is to create stronger bonds between LBGs from different countries and to bring members of LBGs together. Every LBG that joins the CE hosts the other LBG or LBGs in its university and city. This program can be supported by academical events or companies.
Workshop = WS
Another activity type in the BEST world is workshops. In this kind of events 15-20 members from Europe get together and discuss the future of BEST. They try to find new and creative ideas about BEST. The event ends in one week.
Committee Meetings
Committee Meetings are the meetings of BEST's 6 sub-gorups which are EduCo, EEC, finTeam, ITC, markeTeam, TiGro. The meetings are organised each season in the year. Committee members are hosted by the LBG and they exchange ideas about the committee works.
Trainshops
Trainshpos are organised by the committees. The BESTies who have the thought of joining one or more of these committees or who want to improve their knowledge and transfer it to their LBGS attend these trainshops. Generally 15-35 BESTies take trainings for 10 days. ie: BeProud, BeRicher, BeKnown
Jamboree (JAM)
Jamborees are the entertainment organisations which can be organised for a few times in a year by volunteered LBGs. This event may be thought as a wider and more fun version of Motivation Weekend. In JAMs there are generally 100 - 250 BESTies meeting the other BESTies for 4-5 days and have a stress-free period.
Regional Meeting = RM
Regional Meetings are organised twice in a year before General Meetings. The LBGs which are in the same regions with respect to their geographical locations gather together in the place which is determined by hosting LBG. The meeting continues for 4 days. The participants are selected from LBGs' members. In these meetings the problems of LBGs in the region are discussed and the LBGs prepare an action plan for GMs.
General Meetings = GM
The biggest events of BEST are GMs. One of the GMs is the General Assembly (GA) and the other is the President's Meeting (PM).At least one member of all member LBGs have to attend the GMs. In these meetings which continues for generally 10 days, topics that will influence the future of BEST are discussed and voted.
Board Meeting
BEST International Board which is founded by active and experienced BESTies meets for a couple of times in a year in Board Meetings organised by volunteered LBGs. In these meetings the Board discusses and exchanges the ideas about BEST organisation and take the action plan of the next term.
